Night Owl X Says Goodbye...

Well, updates have been very scarce here... I have to be true to myself and you; even though it's awesome to run a label (small as it is), there's no chance I'll ever have the time to run or promote this site properly.

Therefore I decided - not to call it quits of course - but to shift things over to Take Your Shot (my fanzine/blog/), which is my main way of dealing with hardcore anyways. From there, I'll be able to run things from one place and not spread myself so thin anymore.

OK--so this might be the end of Night Owl X, but things will have a better and more concise continuation  through Take Your Shot. The number of releases will not start from #01 all over again, but will continue normally, from Take Your Shot  #04.

Right... so thank all of you for dropping by since October 2010, see you at Take Your Shot!!!

What's the buzz with Night Owl X Records?

Time for another NOX Records update!

This time we have a lot of good news for you. Take Your Shot fanzine #4 has been out since about a month or so. The reception of this new issue (themed 'the PMA issue') has been awesome and this is really good because this issue was so overdue. It is nice to see the scene still out there giving a positive reception to your stuff.

You can get this new issue directly through us, or WAK Records, Rhythm Records, My Turn shows, etc. No plans for the next issue yet. Maybe in another 4 years? Hopefully sooner than that.

---------------------------

OK, so back to our NOX activities. We are currently preparing the one-off, single issue of the vegetarian straight edge publication In Defense Of... . This fanzine will contain interviews with various members from the Greek veg(etari)an straight edge scene, focusing on society related and activism issues. It contains quite a few radical opinions and makes for a very interesting read independent from whether you're straight edge or not! Stay tuned!

With some extra help from our friends, we also got these  nice little NOX badges done (see below). We'll be sending them along free with Take Your Shot issues everywhere, so make sure you get yours!

Current inspiration/playlist: Omega Impure, The First Step documentary, Nervous Breakdown, Chain Of Strength tribute album.

NOX Records - November 2010 Newsletter

What's up everyone!?

NOX has been doing great. My Turn's "Noble Intentions" demo (NOX #01) is going really well and that's something that matters to me, as I play guitar for them :). It's not at all about the money, it's about your band doing well and people liking it. It's a great feeling. I love the guys in the band and all we've done so far... and the best is yet to come!

Aside from playing with My Turn I have been busy with my fanzine, Take Your Shot. That bastard needs to be out asap! I've delayed it like crazy and I just wanna be done with it.

As for the present and/or future of NOX? Well I am working on a small publication (yet unnamed), which deals with veganism and straight edge in Greece. Right now I am in the process of interviewing people for it. If you are vegan and/or sXe and you want to take part in this interview (or the whole project itself), then contact me: takexyourxshot@yahoo.com.

Other than that, life has been pretty crazy and awesome and we have been busy listening to the following for good vibes supply: Shelter, the new Suicidal Tendencies and Decision Final (melodic krishnacore from Peru). Track it down and listen to it if you like positive melodic hardcore/punk rock! They don't put out music like this out anymore!

NOX 01 Out Now!

OK so the 1st Night Owl X release is officially out! 6 songs of energetic hardcore from Athens/Greece (check the Releases section from the menu bar above for more info). We really want to thank World's Appreciated Kistch Records for putting in the work and co-releasing this with us. Also Ultra Grim Design for the layout and of course all the guys in My Turn! This is a dream come true for us!

For more info on My Turn, their upcoming shows or a report of their trip to Sofia, please visit http://myturnhc.blogspot.com. Our singer, Apostolis, takes care of it quite frequently. It's like a My Turn diary and it's done in style! If you wanna cut straight to the chase and just listen to some of the demo tracks, then go to www.myspace.com/myturn.com. We post all My Turn Shows up there as well.

As for you... Keep checking back here as we're moving on with some great, great plans for the future! Stay positive and set your goals!

Good news- My Turn to play Sofia w/ No Turning Back & Last Hope!

While we thought that My Turn's 1st show would be on the 27th Oct @ Mad Club (Ath), it turns out that the kids had a big surprise in store for them: their opening show will actually be 4 days earlier, supporting No Turning Back and Last Hope in Sofia. Well how about that? I guess these guys can start feeling weak at the knees right now :)

Of course, you will read all about that show here!

Welcome (Getting psyched in the autumn)

Welcome to Night Owl X Records!

NOX is an independent hardcore label, focusing on the energetic & positive side of the spectrum. We plan to release a variety of styles in melodic hardcore, pop hardcore, youth crew, straight edge etc. We also plan to distribute some relevant info & press, like zines, books, pamphlets etc. More info coming soon!

Our first release will be the limited to 60 pieces demo cassette of MY TURN, a new Athenian 'posi' hardcore band. These guys have only been around for a few months but they already have their first release recorded, which they will carry around in all their Fall 2010 shows (in Athens and elsewhere!). Visit http://myturnhc.blogspot.com and www.myspace.com/myturnhc for more details!
